The ONE freaking day I planned to actually LEAVE the courthouse for lunch and not work thru lunch, and they’re going to inundate us with THIS CRAP.
I had to cancel lunch plans I was CONCEITED enough to make this morning with a DA pal who’d been wanting to take me out before I leave on vacation. Jury complications off the map, constant juggling of disappearing attorneys on 2 cases, jury hung on 1 count and we took the verdict on the other count into lunch, so I had to cancel lunch plans, and then they gave us ANOTHER TRIAL. Non-stop phone calls in the morning so I can’t get ANYTHING done. I wanted to either HAVE a damn lunch or go to the gym for once! I haven’t even been able to leave the freaking courthouse before 7:30p all week (except Thursday when I bailed close to 5:30p). So I may as well work thru lunch to process 7 divorce cases that the Judge had signed for me this morning and to do my trial minute order and to close out the damn trial case now that we’ve reached a verdict. The amount of work for a clerk post-verdict is extensive, anyway. It looks like another LONG evening at work, too.
DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT.
That’s terrible! Are you going to grab a bite? Don’t starve yourself while trying to finish off the stupid divorce cases.
Will you have enough time to pack if you leave late today? Ok, take it easy. Fun time soon. 🙂
I don’t know! *wail* I still need to go home and call my neighbor to see if she’ll take check on my cat while I’m gone! I’m so stressed right now that my chest AND back hurts.
Oh dear. Don’t stress, calm calm. You’ll get all your cases done. Stressing won’t help at all.
Can you give her a ring now. Probably she’ll be at home even if you go home late. It’ll be fine. No worries.
I think she’s at work. I don’t have her # w/me, it’s at home. 🙁 My heart rate’s totally elevated right now. My eyes have blurred over. Stress is probably drying out my contacts. But I’m pounding away on my trial minute order. I’m not gonna have time to get my divorce cases done at lunch at all. And then we’ll have to start a new trial at 1:30p and I’ll have to deal with a big panel of new jurors and give them orientation… *hyperventillating*
Don’t worry about Dodo’s nanny. Even if she’s not at home later tonight, perhaps you can just drop her a note telling her about this. I don’t think she’ll turn her nice neighbour down.
Sound like you’re on a really high stress level. You’ll be able to finish all the work if you focus hard.
I had no idea court clerks worked late. I just assumed everyone left the courthouse after 430.
gt – ya know, your assumption really feels true on days when I’m toiling. I feel like I’m alone frantically scooping coal and everybody else has abandoned ship at 3:30p. Which of course isn’t the case. Allegedly.
