YIKES!! What happened to Monday’s blog post??? Did I not post one?! How unlike me.
Yesterday after work I finally utilized my annual pass and went to Disneyland. It was insanely crowded. In line for the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, I wailed, “Why are there so many people here? It’s a freaking weekday!” A father holding the hand of his 8 year old son turned and said, “It’s spring break right now for a lot of schools.” “Really? This early?” He complained also, “That’s why I’m here! It’s MY idea, no one else is supposed to have the same idea!” I said, “I know! That’s how I feel!”
So not only were there a ton of people and my favorite — kids — we lined up for Space Mountain, and 40 minutes in, the ride broke and we ditched the line and reached the outside of the building just as it came back up and functioning (so we forfeited the ride); we then lined up for The Matterhorn Bobsleds and actually did get to ride that; next we lined up for my favorite ride, the Indiana Jones Adventure, and 20 minutes into that line, that ride malfunctioned and we left at that announcement; and lastly we lined up for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and rode that. 50% success rate. I wonder why I don’t go to Disneyland more often.
Good thing you have a pass and didn’t pay full price to only ride 2 rides.
You know my friend had a similar experience to yours a week or two ago, but even worse. He had gone on what he thought was an off-peak time, mid-day (annual pass also).
The first suspicious thing was that the front entrance was blocked off / closed due to over crowding.
Then he decided to go park at Downtown Disney. The roads were of course jam packed with traffic because of the closuer, but eventually he got there. He just happened to find one spot there by “Luck”. Although he mentioned he wished he had never found that spot.
There was a HUUUGGEE line at the monorail, so it took him forever to get through there.
Once on the monorail (which was PACKED to the brim) and into the park — main street was super crowded and hard to walk through.
All the rides has a 2+ hr wait time on it… So he ended up walking through some jungle house, and then went home lol.
So he spent about 4 hrs driving up / finding parking / waiting in line, to walk through the Jungle playhouse thing and go home!!! Lol. That sucks.
I love amusement parks. Bat & I have been to Busch Gardens and 6 Flags over St. Louis. Both were a blast. Sorry you didn’t get to ride the malfunctioning rides, that would make me leery!!
