So I’m doing my taxes right now on TurboTax, and up pops this question and statement:
“Income in Any Other States? Select Yes if you earned income in any states other than California.
If you earned income in Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington or Wyoming, select No. These states don’t collect income tax so you won’t need to file a return.”
WHAT the…? How come WE have to? How do OTHER states manage to make it without taking money from their residents?
There are a lot of trade offs by living in those other states. Can you imagine living in Wyoming with NO belly dancing, good sushi, ocean, or WARM WEATHER? There’s no complaining about taxes after I think of those positives!!
uhm because we’re a tourist state is what I’m told.. I’m NOT complaining!!!
Flat Coke – *really* good points. I feel better.
Jordan – that makes sense. Since you can’t tax tourists (if someone lives there less than 6 months a year I imagine they’re not happy paying for the state), the few residents get the bennies, too.
It’s a sacrifice I am willing to pay in this beautiful state.
tru dat. I’m willing to take my money back from them when they give it, too. I get a refund! Yay!
