I made an error when I stated in a previous post that we obtained Formula D drift race tickets from “a family friend [who] works as the publicist for these race events.” Just found out that the connection (my godbrother’s older brother; I grew up with this guy) is the president/co-founder of Formula D. Whoa….
I should not have had to pay for that souvenir Formula D t-shirt! =)
I’m just kidding about that; I would gladly support his cause. But imagine knowing the guy who founded Nascar! Formula D even got a prestigious hip-hop radio station, Power106, to be one of the DJs for the race we attended. I’m actually really proud of him. He’d always been a great PR person.
(This was my take on the FormulaD event last weekend. This is the Wikipedia coverage of Formula D.)
I just watched the YouTube and the Hulk was there!? That is too cool! Did you see him? I used to love watching him when I was in elementary and he was a westler in WWF.
And I know what will keep me in shape… becoming a drift model. You think your godbrother’s older brother can hook me up with a job? j/k
You know when you said The Hulk, i was thinking that giant green guy? Haha. I wasn’t at the area where they were entertaining and throwing T-shirts out into the crowd cuz Mr. W and I were hogging some great seats up on the stand munching on hot dog (me) and pizza (him).
At first I got worried that I used the wrong name and then did a google search to double check.
*wiping brow*
I am in the clear! But that is too funny that you thought The Hulk as the green guy. HAHA!
Oooh, does this mean you can get me free tickets for the next event in the bay area? 🙂
Vanessa – I STILL see the big overmuscled green guy when I read The Hulk. But I picture the mustached wrestler when I read Hulk Hogan. *shrug*
TurboTiger – I’m not sure…I didn’t even speak to him at the event. I *thought* I saw him once (in a fenced-off area wearing a Formula D jacket), but I wasn’t sure, and he was kinda far away and on the phone, and the DJ was blasting his music, so I couldn’t/didn’t get his attention.
I once saw Hulk Hogan come out of a plane while I was picking up someone at the airport. He’s not a big as I thought he would be.
I once passed Magic Johnson at UCLA. He was way bigger than I thought he would be. I think I came up to his lower ribs. But maybe our experiences are because you’re tall and I’m…not.
