*** Afternoon addendum ***
K reminded me in her comment about the US citizenship exam, so here’s a question from the exam that I remember from my childhood (from my parents studying for the exam):
Q: What are the colors of the American Flag and what do the colors represent?
A: Red is for courage; white is for peace; blue is for justice.
That’s a cute red white and blue outfit
I like this picture, cool way to honor the day…as a side note, it could also pass as a ‘I just became a citizen’ pic too 🙂
Thank you! Today is the new Patriot Day. They should make it a holiday.
K – That’s funny! I was actually never sworn in as a citizen. I was young so when my parents became citizens, I just naturally did, too. I’m not sure how that works. But they used to tell me they weren’t going to make it that easy on me and that I’d have to take the exam and pass it, too. I told them no problem, I was in US History AP and ain’t no question on the citizenship test harder than the crap I had to know for my tests in that class. And then I found out later that I was already a citizen, so I never took the test and never took the oath.
interesting and lucky for you, no tests!! ha no tests here either. when I was FOB (at the ripe age of 9 mos), they swore me in also…(actually a couple months later due to paperwork and all) I do have some ‘great’ pics of me with the flag–but i’m not dressed as festive as you. ha PS – I’m impressed w/ the colors quiz…I only remembered what the white was for, ha
They swore a baby in? What’d they do, raise your teeny curled up hand with a finger as they said the oath to you?
When my dad was sworn in, he made it on the news. It was like the largest number of people sworn in at one time in recent history, and my dad had my very very adorable 2-year-old godbrother in his arms standing in the room waiting to be sworn, and the news cameras loved them.
You look wonderful, and thank you for being patriotic. I didn’t even know what the colors meant and I’m from here! (Embarassed)
Flat Coke – no worries; they’d done a news special once that showed how most citizens (born-citizens who did not take the exam) do not know enough answers to the nit-picky questions about American trivia to pass the exam themselves.
