I got some life updates about several people recently. They’re not where you’d expect them to be, not even where they themselves expected to be, and yet everyone’s working out and happy. But maybe we all fought it at one point just cuz it’s not what we’d imagined our futures to be like, or to be with.
I think sometimes when you try to force round pegs into square holes, you waste precious time overly focused/obsessed with this impossible task when really, the square pegs are RIGHT THERE if you’d just drop the round peg-leg gimp and look around.
I like the way you put things! I’m going to steal your peg example when this girl from class tells me again that she slept with her bi-polar, lying, drug dealing and using ex BF and asks what should she do.
I think the usual quote is “fitting a square peg in a round hole,” but I changed it slightly for my last line.
Yeah, I lose patience with people like your friend. They’re miserable and come crying to me for advice, I’d be a good friend and counsel them thru it, and they just keep jumping back into the same stupid thing. At a point I realize they’re just wasting my time.
I’m glad I divorced my round peg-leg gimp.
Haha!
