Here Comes the Sun (dah dah dah-dah)

It is POURING right now. The streets are flooded, up to 4-5 inches deep along the edges of the roads. The gutters and storm drain systems are unable to handle this amount of water. On the way to work splish splashing other cars next to us, Mr. W griped about how California (unlike his hometown of Chicago) has no clue how to equip itself for any type of weather except sunny days. I shrugged. Why spend billions establishing a system for something that only happens 15 days of the year? Hopping over the flowing wide rivers trying to get to the building from the parking structure, it did feel a lot like UCLA finals weeks (when it seems to ALWAYS be pouring).
Here are some memories of sunnier days, taken from a walk Mr. W and I took around our neighborhood just last month.
The afternoon before our walk:
The Lake:
Mr. W, taking a break on the path:
While Jordan and I were pedaling our heinies off on the 2-person pedalboat the day before the wedding, we came across one lakeside mansion that Jordan claimed to be hers. She took a bunch of photos of it, and then suggested we get close enough so that she could climb onto the property. “Drop me off! I can be in there a WEEK before they even realize I’m there!” she said. This is the front entrance of that property. The backside is the Lake.
(as always, rest mouse pointer over photos for captions)
i’m jealous 🙂
Nice Photos! The drive to work was interesting today. not much traffic but it was really hard to see through all the rain.
k – Hey, you have some pretty nice lakes and trees up there in MN yourself! I remember those from your blog posts.
James – Thanks!
Ick, we hit congestion. But we left WAY before you in the opposite direction.
Sister!! You’re showing everyone my new place before the closing?!!! To add to your story…
It was a hot day.. Cindy had the bright idea to PADDLE boat our way around the lake… I wanted to take something with a motor. Cindy wins, plus it’s better for us. Cindy realizes half, no a quarter of the way through the lake that this is WORK!! We were supposed to be relaxing. To take our minds off the work and the fact that Mr. W and Bro were circling us in their kayaks, we dreamed up our new homes, pointing out which ones *we* owned or would like to own. When we reached the end of the lake, I spotted MY mansion. I did ask her to let me out and I was very sure that I could be there, maybe even throw a party, invite 100 of my closest friends and they wouldn’t know I was there. It’s that big. Did I mention that we got back in the knick of time and also… it was easier padding with the current and not against it.
ba ha ha ha ha ha ha ha haaaaaaa
ps. one of us couldn’t steer a paddle boat.
won’t say who.
xoxoxox to my little sister 🙂
ps.. cindy got a minor sunburn on that outing… ONE day before the nuptials in a strapless gown!
Hey, the last time I was in a pedalboat I was 10, okay? How was I supposed to know that a stupid fishing boat going past us would create enough ripple to push us back 10 feet despite our mad pedaling?
Despite my SPF 80+, sport formula, sweat- and waterproof sunblock, you can kinda see my tanlines in the wedding photos. =P After I spent like a YEAR avoiding uneven color!!
If CALIF if like TN you can pull up the property taxes on that mansion and see who owns it…then start stalking them and become their friend…girlfriend…wife…get the hint Jordan ??
Hey! *nudging Jordan*
wife / girlfriend huh? what if a WOMAN owns it? ok so for now let’s pretend a hot 35-45 yr old man owns it.
How do i find out and when do I start stalking? I’m thinking the week of July 4th. Or should I fly out and stalk sooner than that?
Stalk sooner! Stalk sooner! Then we can have July 4th at YOUR new mansion!
