Right now, my college roommie Diana is vacationing in Australia, where it’s apparently daytime, cuz she sent me this not long ago from her cameraphone:
I am extremely jealous, as she appears to be doing what Dwaine and I have only dreamt of doing long before. I don’t know whether Mr. W was trying to make me feel better or just being a poo-poo head when I showed him the cameraphone picture and he said, “Pssh, she’s probably visiting a zoo.”
Meanwhile, in my life right now, I am hosting my first stepmother duty event: Mr. W’s daughter’s 18th birthday shindig at our house. We ordered food from the Newport Rib Company, got a giant chocolate coma-inducing cake from Costco, decorated the back yard into a winter wonderland, and let the teenagers entertain themselves. Right now, we handed out hot chocolate, lit a fire, got the music going on our outdoor speakers, and they’re cozy and content.
Here they are again from the opposite perspective.
The great thing about chilly weather is that outdoor fires become a very nice thing. This is the first time we’re lighting up our outdoor firepit, and earlier in the week, we lit our living room fireplace for the first time, too. Even Dodo has been permitted to cozy up to us on the bed. Not a flattering photo of me right before bed a few days ago, but it’s a great one of Dodo.
Tonight, I expect to go to bed to the same thing. A sleeping fuzzy boy in each corner of the bed, with a space in the middle just for me.
Nota zoo! It was at the kaola conservation center at philips island off the coast of melbourne. They r totally in the wild.
Mr. W laughed and said, “Same thing. Conservation center is a zoo. It’s not like she’s seeing it in someone’s back yard or anything.” But WHY would you be in someone’s back yard on vacation in Australia?! Trespassing?
I would love to go down under, as well. Maybe our next blogger meet up, ey? I would like to swim over the great barrier reef…well not the ENTIRE thing, but where its safe from sharks.
…I just wanna hug the koala…
Flat Coke – ooOOOh, a blogger meet vacay! With snorkeling and koala-hugging!
Dwaine – I’ll text message Diana and asked if she could pluck the little guy in the photo off the tree and bring it back in her luggage for you.
I bet there are koalas hanging out in backyards… they are probably as common as cats in the US?
or.. gators in FL!
I would love to go to Australia!
So how many is that?
Jordan, Cindy, me, Dwaine, and I’m sure Diana will want to go back too!! Anyone else wanna go?
Diana sent me another cameraphone picture of a kangaroo just hanging out in some tall grass! THAT must be as common as gators in FL! Altho again, Mr. W snorted, “She’s probably at a zoo again.” Pssh.
The idea of a huge group vacation sounds interesting. Hmmmmm.
I’m in… although I’m already taking a vacay in July…
I’m having a mini vacay after my surgery tuesday, 2 whole weeks off work, but I’m not going anywhere. I should find a last minute bahama cruise and take off and try not to fall overboard like so many people seem to be doing lately
People are falling overboard?
I may be on jury duty while you’re recovering. That means lotsa texting time. 🙂
