My mom emailed me a bunch of photos from our Chinese New Year Eve dinner. This is one of my faves:
Look, 3 generations! Don’t we look IDENTICAL? Haha. You can also see who the sloppy dresser is among us womenfolk.
So…exciting news! A guy who has a recording studio company heard Mr. W’s daughter playing some of her songs when she was goofing off with her cousins and friends at a family friend’s house, and he contacted Mr. W, offering to front the expenses of studio time and take a chance on her, help her register her music and produce CDs. I’m gonna help her edit some of her lyrics this weekend and hopefully she’ll be registered and recorded very, very soon. That definitely allays my prior fears of people stealing her stuff. I think her music is as good or better than what plays on the radio in that genre these days, so I think it was a blessing in disguise when she was hoping to play at open mike night in a local lounge last week, but they never got to her before they closed out the night. I wouldn’t be surprised if some musician stole her stuff and got a hit single off her. This also means I will soon be able to share her music! I’m so excited.
Why do you think you are a sloppy dresser? You have on a nice red shirt.
That’s great about Mr. W’s daughter!!! I hope she gets recorded. Skip the American Idol crap just go straight to the studio!!
Haha, it’s one of those hooded pullovers and Happy Bunny is in the front covering his ears and saying, “Please make the stupid people stop talking!”
Skipping the Idol stuff would certainly be more convenient. But she gets a recording contract and instant fame and fans if she wins Idol. I think they get free coaching, too.
hey my parents have a fish tank too. i think every asian household does at some point. 🙂
Yup, you’re right, now that I’m thinking about it. Vicky’s family had guppies and those neon fish. Betas, too. Altho Sandy’s parents had “real” pets, dogs and cats.
Very cool, look forward to hearing the results!
By the way you can always do the poor-man’s copyright. Record the song on a CD, include the music and lyrics. Mail it to yourself and don’t open it.
It proves that you had it recorded and written at a certain date and time.
I knew this would happen.. she has an amazing voice. Congrats to the daughter!
I had a fish tank too.. until my fish commited suicide.. ONE by ONE.
James – we talked about you, too, cuz you do your own recording and blending of all your instruments.
Interesting thought on the poor-man’s copyright. I don’t know if that’ll hold up in court, since once it’s opened, it can’t be re-proved, so there’s gonna have to be witnesses, affidavits, declarations.
Jordan – Oh my gosh! What were you doing to the fish to make them go the harakiri route?!
i don’t know…. i think the kids may have assisted. they were GREAT, for years.. and then wham! one by one..
maybe they’ve just met their normal life span.
I love fish tanks but HATE cleaning them. Ick!
That’s why you don’t see ME with one. 🙂
