I had an early morning outdoor run with Mr. W today. This is the first time I’d run outdoors in probably a year or more. He said the run’s 3 miles. It’s a very nice open area to run in where he lives. Not a lot of traffic or noise, lots of park-like settings, grass, trees, people walking their dogs, people playing sports. Altho I hit 4 miles on the treadmill a couple of times already, I really wondered whether I could pull off a real outdoor run. It was weird. My brain wanted me to quit, probably out of boredom, but I listened carefully to my body and my body was doing fine.
My mind’s tellin’ me no,
But my body, my body’s tellin’ me yes, baby
I don’t wanna hurt nobody
But there’s something I must confeeeeeess…
I don’t see nuthin’ wrong…
Yup, R. Kelly’s what went thru my mind as I analyzed the fact that my breathing’s fine, the oxygen-exchange is efficient, my legs weren’t aching, but my head just wanted to stop. However, I’m happy to report, I didn’t. And completed the run. At the end, Mr. W gave me a middle-high-5, Special Olympics style. YAY! Good job, me!
Congrats! *e-middle-high-five*
Whats wrong with you you used to run like 50 miles a weekas a minimum, your loosing it.LOL
Thanks, Mark! How supportive you are! Unlike Brian. But yeah, Brian’s right. In mid-run, I burst out with, “I don’t know HOW I used to run 12 miles!” Was running always boring? Maybe I just need a working MP3 player to keep me hyped.
That mp3 player your parents gave you never got fixed? I thought it was just in another language; I didn’t know it was broken!
Yeah mp3 players make everything less boring. I hate running too if it makes you feel any better. But I actually find any exercise boring, unless it’s playing a sport. It’s great for the health though. I need to tell myself that.
Yay! Congratulations! Do you find it easier to run outside? I used to only run outside because I was afraid I wasn’t coordinated enough to run on a treadmill, then I started using the treadmill more and now I’m afraid I’ll look goofy if I run outside because I’m pretty sure my form on the treadmill is different…Anyway…Good job!
Mark, the MP3 player keeps resetting itself on impact with anything. My hand, for example. Sucks.
Tina, I find outdoor running less boring cuz the scenery changes. So it goes by faster. I think the treadmill thinks we’re going slower than we actually are, since I’m very familiar with the speed of my pace. The treadmill probably does that to compensate for the fact that the belt keeps moving regardless of how large our stride is.
