Okay. So. My trainee had a doctor’s appointment today, which allowed me to go to the closer gym. I got there early, ran 3 miles on the treadmill plus 1 lap cool-down. Then I hit the weights for 30 minutes, crammed 5 exercises in. I was sweating like a pig (do pigs sweat a lot? or are they referring to cops? like when a cop’s overweight from all the donut-munching that they’re sweaty and out of breath chasing a suspect for half a block? of course I’m just saying this to jab at all the sheriffs who work with me), I even got a blister one the side of a toe, just like I used to when I packed on the running mileage. The run was still terribly boring and seemed to last forever. I couldn’t wear my MP3 player until after the run cuz any contact with anything would cause it to reset, and as it was, it reset 3 times when I was doing weights. I need to get a better MP3 player. Any recommendations? The music was very helpful in hyping me up. Weights feel lighter with “I wanna fk you like an animal, I wanna feel you from the inside…” screaming in my ears.
Food count so far:
Breakfast – 1.5 cups Silk vanilla flavored soy milk (150 calories)
Snack – Chocolate Amond Biscotti ZonePerfect bar (210 calories)
Post-Workout Lunch – Chocolate Peanut Butter ZonePerfect bar (210 calories)
570 calories…that’s a lot, consider how little food that is! I expect to receive a phone call soon from Mr. W saying, “WHAT? That’s all you ate all day?! You need to eat more!”
A creative Zen, very similar to an Ipod, except it is compatible with all the music subscription services, and you can get as much music you want for a monthly fee
oh! Is it compact enough for working out so that it wouldn’t get in my way?
yes, very compact, and there is an arm sleeve both
available from circuit city
I wouldn’t get the Zen…actually, I wouldn’t get anything with a hard drive if you’re going to be working out with it. I engineer hard drives for a living and seen a lot of them fail because ppl run with them. Just my two cents…
I like the Creative Muvo, but the Creative Nano is also cute (and the 1Gb model is on sale at Fry’s this weekend for $109).
I think I’m gonna go get that in like 10 minutes. Thanks, Tina! I wonder if the hard drive thing is why my MP3 player keeps skipping now. How annoying.
I used to feel that way about hard drives, but I have been working out with mine for a while now, and still no problems.
Okay, I didn’t get it. The online site said $139, so I held off. I’m now thinking of an Ipod because my friend can get it at a discount from another friend who works for Apple. Any thoughts on Ipods?
I fyou dont mund paying for itunes, then there is nothing wrong with Ipods, I personally dont like them because of their propriety music format. But the nano is super sexy looking, again my vote for zen micro, if you check out CNET.com they have a wealth of info
What? Ipods can’t play mp3s? I thought mine could, but I really don’t use it that much because you have to update the playlist through the Itunes software and that gets annoying.
Anyway, I like the ease of use of updating the playlists on the flash based players because it’s just drag and drop. That and flash memory is more robust than a hard drive.
As for Ipods–the shuffle doesn’t support playlists and it doesn’t have a LCD display. The Ipod nano is very sleek and I can’t think of any negatives–they might be a little expensive, but you are getting a discount :). Apple Ipod–requires software to update the playlist and has a hard drive.
And just FYI…
Here’s the fry’s ad for this weekend the $109 Creative Nano…it’s from the OC Register because I couldn’t find the LA Times ad online.

Wow, thanks! And I didn’t know Ipods were a pain in the butt with the conversion stuff, thanks for letting me know. I like the straight drag-and-drop with mp3 files, too.
