What did I do on the 3rd day of my week off? I got another person to join my gym today. It’s Mr. W’s neighbor, the guy he went to Alaska with. He’d mentioned over the weekend that Mr. W has noticeably lost weight and that he wants to do the same for himself, so I told him about my gym’s current promo and went with him to join today. Now he’s all excited and motivated to work out with us. It seems like everyone’s motivated but me. I dunno, maybe I think that if I could get a bunch of people to join with promises to work out with them once they do, that’d get me into the gym more, out of a sense of obligation to them. Most days, if it weren’t for Mr. W or my trainee dragging me to the gym at their own momentum, I wouldn’t go at all. I’m always glad I went, but man it’s hard to get up and go.
Mr. W, by the way, is getting a lot of attention lately. Apparently some female coworker’s been making flirtatious remarks about how he’s gonna get back into his original hot shape, and how she remembers when he first transferred to his current work location and he was one of 3 (in her opinion) best looking, most eligible bachelors, and she said something about how women would make excuses to be in his area so they could go check him out. *shrug*
Maybe Mr. W should get a tatoo on that big bicep that says “Cindy’s”. lol I always said if I got a tattoo I would get “HIS” on one of my butt cheeks!!
Maybe you should send me a daily email that says GO TO GYM–I need motivation.
Anytime you want to go to the gym, let me know! I need motivation, but I have got twice this week 🙂
Flat Coke – I think if Mr. W’s gonna get a tattoo, he should get one that says “HIS.”
Vanessa – I’m not motivated, either! What did you get twice this week, motivation?
Why would he get one that says HIS?
I just got back from the gym. I swam and now my legs feel like wet spaghetti noodles. Is that what I’m supposed to feel like?
I’m going to hit the equipment tomorrow for the first time. Bat’s been pumping all week while I’ve been at WORK.
Cuz it’s more confusing and thus funnier that way.
Feeling spent after a cardio sesh is fine. 🙂 Good job.
Good luck on the weights! If it’s your first time, make sure Bat’s with you on each of the machines so that you maintain proper form/posture. If you’re off by even 10 degrees, you don’t work the correct muscle and you risk injury. Have fun! Lemme know how it goes!
Just got back from the gym. Was there about 2 hours. WHEW! My entire body feels like a pile of wet spaghetti noodles now!!
I got on the treadmill for 20 min, recumbent bike for 10, and this thing that looks like you are ice skating or skiing for 5 min. I played basketball awhile too. Bat tried to show me how to use some equipment but I decided I’d better just have one of the girls at YMCA show me how to use it so I made an appt for Monday night! I feel great after working out, you are right, it’s addictive!! What do you do when you go to the gym? How long? Getting personal, do you shower before you go back to work when you workout on your lunch breaks? Do you have to wash your hair and fix makeup afterwards? Do you have time to eat too?
Sounds like a promising start! As for my routine, in a good work week, I should be hitting 2 days of cardio only lunches (elliptical trainer [the thing with the arms] or treadmill), and 3 days of weight training. On weight training days, I get to the gym and change from my work clothes to gym clothes, hit the elliptical trainer for 10 mins to warm up, then go to the weights. Depending on which machines/benches/free weights are open, I try to hit 2 exercises each to work my major muscle groups, i.e. chest, back, and legs. I do 3 sets of 15 reps on each exercise in supersets (switching off so I don’t have to rest in between sets, e.g. chest press for 15 reps, get off, stand next to that and do 15 lunges on each leg, get back and do another set of chest press). That’s usually about 35 mins. Then I head back to the locker room, get undressed, and rinse off in the shower. I don’t get my hair wet and I don’t normally sweat on my head, so it’s pretty easy maintenance, just soap in the shower and go. Then I get back in my work clothes and go back to work, after patting my face down with a paper towel. My makeup pretty much stays put, too. I may just need to do minor touch-ups which take like 15 seconds. You’ll soon figure out your own routine, depending on your needs and the time you have on hand.
On weekends we can go longer on the weights and cardio, of course, and we usually do a weight and cardio day (ending weight training with 45+ mins of cardio) in one visit.
