Vanessa invited me to attend a 24 Hour Fitness recreation class with her last nite, something called “24 SET.” I understand that SET is an acronym, but I don’t know what it stands for, except that it was a Seriously Excruciating Time. I didn’t realize how hard-core that class would be, so I maxed out all my major muscle groups plus biceps during a 3-hour workout the day before, on Sunday. Everything hurt during class except my ass, and I’m sure that’ll hurt later. The class, as it turned out, did some Seriously Excruciating sTuff on every muscle group, plus cardio. Hopping around the stepper while doing bicep curls (with weights), one-legged dumbbell squats and squats with the bar over our shoulders, pushups, crunches, lunges, hammer curls, tricep extensions, hip extensions, bench presses, deadlifts, we worked our shoulders, chest, back, hamstrings, quads, abs. The last time I sweat that much in just an hour of exercise was in a spinning class. Jeebus!
Vanessa asked at the end of class, as we dripped and oozed our way back to the locker room, whether I’m up for taking the class with her again next Monday. I said, “Okay.”
I’m in so much pain today that I’m skipping the gym. I’m going to lunch.
They don’t call it Strength, Endurance Training for nothing! You forgot to tell everyone that there are no breaks, too. We kick butt!:)
Hey Cindy,
You wanna go to the Gym tonight? I need to do some squats. 😀
bah! how about those 60 miles I was telling you about?!!
Vanessa – oh yeah. There were no breaks, everyone. We kicked butt. I was gonna write that the class kicked my butt, but then it would sound like I failed. I guess it’s fair to say the class gave my boo-tay a run for its money. Which, coincidentally, was something the instructor said when we were doing supine hip raises. “I’ve just given everybody in here a $100 dollar bill, and I’ve put it between your butt checks. If you relax your butt, I’m taking the money back. Don’t make it easy for me to pull the money away from you!”
James – wait. Are you joking? I can’t tell.
Jordan – I wrote you back and asked if you were serious about it! Besides, on the one hand, 1 hour of weightlifting aerobics. On the other hand, three days of going 20 miles per day on foot! *weighing hands*
I am totally serious.
Let me help you weigh this out.
1. You get to spend some time in FL.
2. Oh, you get to spend three whole days with me.
3. Uhm… exercise
4. I don’t think we’ll be walking ALL day… we can do 20 miles in what.. 5-6 hours or less?
5. Evenings on the beach, drink in hand.. chatting it up.
Ok… let me hear your arguments. 🙂
I went back to my email to see if I can find the link you sent to pull up the information. I couldn’t find it. When is this supposed to be? If you’re actually serious, I’m game, providing it’s plausable for me to get the time off to get out there.
Cindy & Jordan – you two are going to do 60 mile run? That is awesome & crazy! Good Luck to you, too!
Vanessa, you sound jealous. You know you wanna run 60 miles with us.
google “3day” .. and it should come up
http://www.the3day.org/site/pp.asp?c=pmL6JnO8KzE&b=2182495e up.
Nevermind..here’s the link. Of course click on Tampa
It mentions that you have to raise a min of $2,200. Am I reading that right? Is that tax-deductible?
Ugh! That’s a big turn-off. I don’t like the idea of asking people for $2200. Yes, donations are tax-deductible. But they don’t expect you to put out the $2200 yourself. Except maybe if you can’t raise the $2200 and have to make up the difference? I dunno.
60 miles plus coming up with $2200?? Oh my goodness!! Can’t we just eat, drink & work on tans? I thought there was somewhere we had to DRIVE that was 60 miles. WALK??? NO WAY!!
Perspective hits Flat Coke and Flies like a ton of bricks as she suddenly learns the meaning of a walk-a-thon. 😮
OUTTA YO MIND is my first thought.
Oh, come on. You’re doing so well at the gym that by October, you’d be chomping at the bit to run 60 miles.
Dude. Seriously. (flatty)You really thought I meant DRIVE 60 miles? What kind of exercise is that?? Because of the whole camping out thing and the minimum two grand, we might just skip that one and do the regular walk… which is only 5k .. you can do that! more on that one later.. but plan on doing something with us in Oct. … I take Breast Cancer awareness very seriously.. so you HAVE to do something with us
Plus, “our” (my and Jordan’s) grandma is a breast cancer survivor, so it’s the least we can do to raise money for other people.
that’s right…. Grammy is a survivor!! Cindy when we get our pink rings.. we’ll take a pic
I’m all about pink!! I would gladly do 5K for boobies. 60 miles in Florida heat? I would not be a survivor of ANYTHING. PRNOUNCE ME DED (yep, D.E.D).
Cindy, is Mr. W going to FL with you? I want Bat to come with me.
Flat Coke – I brought it up yesterday and he said he does have October off, but that he’s saving it to go to Chicago. I said, “I guess you’ll be freezing your ass off there while I’m running around in warmer climates, then.”
Altho…when IS the 5K?
breast cancer awareness month is always october… so I’m sure the 5k is in october, as it’s always been. Just not sure of the date yet, but as soon as I know, I’ll let you know.
maybe we can do 2 of them back to back, tampa and orlando.. or stick with the plan of one 5k and then jet skiing.. haha
It looks like the only ones in Florida this year in October are in Jacksonville & St. Petersburg. Not as fun places, huh?

Like I said in the email, I don’t think it’s completey posted yet. Due to the fact that Orlando’s race is normally at Disney (animal kingdom last year), they probably have some scheduling things to work out… HOWEVER… if.. and I said IF those two are the only ones.. I would totally pick St. Pete, so that afterwards we can play on Clearwater beach (Pier place) and that’s where you rent the jetskis from anyway… so it’s not all bad.
