So like, the defendant in our current criminal trial (we’re still picking a jury right now and haven’t heard any evidence) allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend 17 times but apparently is a bad shot cuz he didn’t hit any vital organs so she survived.
A lot of thoughts come to mind. Is she a big girl and the extra cushion saved her life? (I’m not being facetious, this HAS happened, and in a trial in this very courthouse, too.) 17 stabs means he was angry; what made him so angry with her? Did he MEAN not to hit any vital organs so he was just swiping with the blade and not sinking it in? Maybe he was sitting on her and pinning her down, that’s why he couldn’t hit things like her liver cuz he was blocking it with his own body. I thought *I* had relationship problems. Were there signs of violence before that she ignored like women with battered wife syndrome? Did he leave her for dead or did something make him stop? If she’s like the typical battered wife who refuses to testify and wants to get back with her abusive man, would she think a 150 people-capacity at her wedding venue is ridiculously small?
Maybe that’s what happens when you don’t “sssshhhh” when you man tells you to. 😛 …I’m goin to Hell for that one…

I can’t imagine being stabbed 17 times and someone missing one of my ‘vital’ organs. She must have been huge? Orrrrrrrrrr… all of the stabs were in the hand/arms… feet/legs?? ears?? nose??

17 times? Could she not squirm away? At least she wasn’t stupid like some girls and just say “oh that’s just his way of showing he loves me!”
Jordan – I haven’t been able to bring myself to look at the crime scene photos. (The physical evidence is already in cuz it’s a re-trial; the 1st trial hung.)
Flat Coke – From my understanding, the victim is totally scared and doesn’t want to testify. I don’t know whether it’s cuz she’s scared of HIM and doesn’t want to come near him, or she doesn’t want him to be mad at her cuz she still wants him back.
Everyone – stop encouraging Dwaine to be an ass!

Okay, the victim is testifying now. She’s in her 20s and attractive, not more than maybe 15-20 lbs overweight. But apparently the two of them were extremely high at the time (she said she was high on meth for 2-3 days straight w/o sleep) so maybe they didn’t have full control of motor functions? Oh, and I guess it was 14 stab wounds, not 17.
I asked Wilco what he found to be SO funny in Dwaine’s comment, and he said Dwaine invoked the ludicrous image of gentle peaceful Mr. W slashing away at me and me being the subservient little Asian girl, which two personality changes were so absurd and not us that it was hilarious. Like if Dwaine had said, “That’s what happens if Cindy doesn’t shh when Mr. W tells her to.” I guess that image WOULD be really absurd.
