Because My Body Likes to Screw with Me

I haven’t done anything dramatically different in the past couple of weeks, but the needle’s flying up on the weight scale. You know those swimsuit photos taken, what, 2 weeks ago? Add 8 lbs to that. Yeah. Unbelievable. Since those photos, I’ve been running more, and pretty consistently hitting the weights. On the other hand, I’ve also PMSed and fallen victim to the courtroom assistant’s evil implantation of a giant jar of M&Ms in the courtroom. Other than that, I have eaten lightly, though…had a lot of sushi, as you can tell from the previous post. Maybe it’s a combination of an increase of carbs in the forms of chocolate and white sushi rice. Or maybe all the mercury from fish consumption is weighing me down.
Most likely, though, things have aligned to make sure I once again look gross in a swimsuit, since my vacation with Jordan (to be joined halfway through by James) in Orlando, Florida begins next Sunday. Our intinerary doesn’t hit Clearwater Beach until next Thursday, so I have a week and a half to make an extreme attempt at recovery, i.e.
* cutting as much carbs as I can
* doubling up on long runs
* cutting sugar
* chugging water, in case what I’m experiencing is a bloat
I’m really excited about the trip since Jordan is one of my favorite people to run amok with, cuz she’ll match me blow-for-blow in ridiculousness, goofiness, and take photographic evidence of all that, too. James is also usually game for anything. Plus, I miss my big sister. I’m excited about Clearwater Beach after reading all that Flat Coke & Flies has posted and gushed about it; I know it’s a favorite vacation spot for her and her boyfriend Bat. (I wonder if the stuff I write make people want to see specific places/restaurants for themselves, too.)
Mr. W will join me toward the end of the first week in Florida, we’ll hit up the Disney stuff, and then he and I will move on to the Dominican Republic to a resort. Read: more swimsuit time.
Wish me luck!!
You will look amazing! Just stand next to me (because I’m way out of shape) ..
The only thing I have *up* on you, is a tan! haha
I’m not that worried about how disgusting I look right now it a bikini because my goal for that is July. I just need to be toned. And I’m not.
We are gonna fave FUN little sister!!
According to the cameraphone photo you sent me last week of you sunning in a bikini, your stomach is flatter than mine will ever be without a plastic surgeon’s assistance.
And yes, I can’t compete with your tan. I used to tan just passing through a sunny window. There was a time I tanned while hanging with Vanessa IN THE SHADE. I’m pretty sure I blogged about that. But this past weekend, despite running around the beach wearing a strappy tanktop with no sunblock, my skin has refused to produce melanin. =P People are gonna ask you, “Who’s your little transparent friend, Jordan?”
I guess I’ll just have to pack long sleeved bulky clothing and lots of long pants. π
I was laying on a lounge chair in that pic.. everyone’s tummies look flatter when they’re laying down!
you’ll be fine with your pale self, you’ll just blend with the other tourists.. haha
I beg to differ. Even when I’m laying on my back, my lower abdominal fat still rises to the occasion. Blech.
Maybe in a week my body would have remembered how to tan again.
Maybe I’ll lay out nekkid in my back yard between now and then.
…Or maybe by then I just won’t care, and would prefer to extend my youth by minimizing UV damage on my skin.
HEY, could my present inability to sleep all the way thru the nite (waking up at 3am for an extended amount of time) be contributing to my weight issue? Hmm.
Awwwwww man I got gypped!!! Jordan is one of (your) favorite people to run amok with, cuz sheΓ’β¬β’ll match (you) blow-for-blow in ridiculousness, goofiness, and take photographic evidence of all that, too
and I’m just “usually game for anything”
I mean I know Jordan is cooler than me but that just makes me sound so uncool in comparison LOL. π
And don’t worry im sure your weight is a temporary thing. As you said this happens to you on a regular cycle.
James, you and I have never run amok taking stupid photos before. Didja not SEE all of Jordan’s and my photos from our ONE afternoon in Long Beach? =D
My weight does fluctuate on a regular cycle, but what’s alarming is that the cycle should be at a weight drop point and instead it’s UP. Hopefully it’s something simple like water and sleep deprivation. =P
Hey, we didn’t run amok taking pictures, but we did run amok! “I think we ARE Drunk!?!?!” Lol.
Drink more water and go to sleep early! π
*giggle giggle giggle*
But we weren’t running amok, we were walking like two respectable people at a respectable pace to a charity event at a high school.
I can’t wait to hear about your vacation. You’re going to have a blast with Jordan and James! And the D.R. … WOW! That sounds like such a beautiful place.
And don’t worry about the scale and focus on how you feel in your clothes. From all the latest pix you look SO bikini ready! So have fun and if all else fails,… suck in your tummies during pix :)haha! Or just take pix in the MySpace pose and you don’t have to worry about everything below your neck.
have a great vacation Cindy! FL is a blast!! π
Who cares what you look like – as long as you have fun, enjoy and your time away right????!
If you don’t feel bikini ready, big woop… play in the ocean, no one can see anything there anways… ha ha π
Considering I don’t shop, much of my clothes are too big for me. haha. Of course, that also means much are too small as well. Whatever. Maybe there’ll be enough big people around me in FL to make me feel small by contrast.
Oh, and those pix you’re referring to are (now) 6 lbs ago. I’ve refrained from junk food and most carbs since I wrote this. I’m still getting carbs from sources like fruit.
Haha, MySpace pose. My arms aren’t long enough for MS poses. =P
I agree with Jordon. You look amazing. And you are smiling!! Your eyes are twinkling!
By the way, the tone of your blogging is up beat and happier then it has been in awhile. Sounds like you are finding pieces of happiness, again.
That makes me smile…
This is why I bought DRESSES for Vegas, and a bikini with a skirted bottom.
Fiber One bars have given me an eternal bloat. I think I need to quit eating them. I’ve eaten a lot of tuna this week, hoping to slim down before Vegas. I hope that mercury isn’t making me fat!!
Sandy – That was actually a pretty gawd-awful morning in a gawd-awful weekend, but makeup usually brings up self-confidence which somehow makes the day brighter. That’s why college roommie Diana and I would always dress up during finals week, whereas other students are in sweatpants and look like they slept overnight on campus (which they probably did, in the library).
I do look for sunshine in my day…sometimes.
Flat Coke – I really dislike shopping. I should go buy some dresses or something. But I likely won’t.
I thought Fiber bars are supposed to be good for dieting. Hmm. Are you eating raw or canned tuna?
