Awesome Instead

I had an epiphany in my car on the drive to work today. Relive it with me. Play this below as you read.
Okay. You’re flying low, 90 mph with 306 horses purring underneath the control of your right foot, leather steering wheel of your luxury sports sedan smoothly steady in your hands, this song pumping in Mark Levinson premium surround sound.
As your right hand involuntarily lifts off the wheel to mark each pulsating rhythmic beat, you find your body swaying ever so slightly left and right, and then more defiantly now, until you are dancing in your seat. The music matches your elevating mood, draws it farther upward, triggering your body to release adrenaline and endorphins. “Let it rock, let it rock!”
I’m sick of being stressed. I’m sick of feeling immobile. I choose, right now and here, to be AWESOME instead. Thank you, Barney Stinson.
I refuse to be powerless. I will not spend my youth watching things pass by. Screw the walls I keep turning into. I can’t wait to start doing, effective immediately.
The stress has done its thing in the recent past days. The below photo is from Tuesday, when I was so not-feeling-it that I called in sick to work. Some hours went by when I moped in bed for awhile, but then I forced my body into submission (so to speak) by making it trek the 2 hilly miles to the Lake, kayaking for an hour, and then of course returning on foot.
The result was kind of funny. During the hike there and back, I was in a tanktop, which resulted in a deep bronze tan on my arms and outer shoulders. Kayaking was done in the outfit above, and I got sunburned with the reflection off the water, so my upper shoulders are pink. Of course the parts the straps covered, which also re-covered the Dominican Republic’s bikini tan, is soft white. My shoulders now look like Neopolitan ice cream. I am now Awesome Neopolitan Ice Cream.
(I can’t wait for “How I Met Your Mother” to return.)
Hey! I still need to get my DVDs 🙂 That’s a good attitude to have! Glad you were able to over come the downers!
Mmmm Neopolitan Ice Cream is so yummy! But I don’t see any neopolitan in the pic!
Your DVDs are at the house in a basket. Waiting. Bored. I think I just heard them yawn and check their flat little internal watches.
The neopolitan ice cream will have to be a mental image; I’m too lazy to contort myself to provide a proper PG photo.
Are you up to anything tomorrow or saturday night?
Well ok, if its that much trouble for you to get the Photo down to PG, I will relax that requirement and accept a photo of any rating that you can achieve.
i too had the same epiphany last night around 3 am, which really made me want to get up and blog it, but i didn’t.
maybe tonight.
Hey I called in Monday… but it was because I am fighting a cold and got to sleep in. Doesn’t it feel good? kayaking seems like a lot of fun. I haven’t done it in years, tho. If you ever want a buddy… (I know I am kinda inviting myself), then call me up and we could go 🙂
DAMN!!! You are SOOOO skinny!!! Those red shoes KICK ASS. There is NO WAY to have a bad day when you are wearing those. OMG, LOVE THEM!!
Strawberry ice cream, yum!
James – I couldn’t do that to you! I’m not gonna force you to lower your photo standards on account of my laziness.
Saturday, Ann and I are planning a spa day. Friday, it all depends when I get home from work.
anny – blog it! blog it! And you were up till past 3am?! That sucks. We really need that spa day getaway Saturday.
busykitty – It actually didn’t feel good. I called in because I was just…miserable. It did feel good AFTER all my physical activity, tho (except for the sunburnt parts). Come by anytime you want to kayak! Give us a call! If we jog down to the lake, kayak there, and jog back, we have total upper AND lower body exercise AND cardio.
Flat Coke – Thanks for liking my red shoes! =D One of the few times I’m glad I’m not 5’7″ to start. And thanks for the “skinny” compliment. *blush* I’m down to the goal weight and bodyfat %, let’s see if I can keep it up and tone like hell.
Is your red long sleeved shirt low cut? Just curious. When I think about wearing things like that to work I sometimes get that “that doesn’t look like work-wear” from someone at home. lol
It’s a v-neck, but not dramatically so. Not conservatively either, tho. Something in-between. In my defense re work-wear, we weren’t in trial and weren’t expecting attorneys when I got dressed yesterday morning in that outfit. Then yesterday, we got a court trial. Today I’m in a suit.
Ooo… that sounds fun! Maybe after I get over my cold and settle in to the new place we should spend sometime at the lake. But no jogging on concrete/sidewalk for me. I have had bad shin splints because of it and can risk an injury with a half marathon coming up in October. But I am always up for a walk or drive :0)
Where are you doing the half-marathon at? I’ll do it too if it has a cool finisher’s medal!
It on October 12th in Long Beach. Jay’s friend is doing the full marathon, which I think I am going to hold off until my 30th b-day.
Sharon’s running it too, so it would be great to have a pack of us gals doing it together!!! 🙂 And YES… they DO have a cool medal. Here’s the link: http://www.runlongbeach.com/
Thanks for the link! I wasn’t able to view the finisher’s medal. 🙁 But I’m familiar with the course and area. That would be a pretty nice run, and it’s darn flat. The only hard part is that you’d have to train thru the summer months.
